Following this event, we are also looking for children and families who would be interested in “adopting a tap” – buckets collecting sap from the church maple tree will need to be checked and swapped out, and Aaron is also willing to lend the materials if families want to tap maple trees in their own backyards to help collect! Please let Kendra know at [email protected] if you or your child(ren) would be interested in adopting a tap. Depending on how much/how quickly sap is collected, there will be a later event where children will have the opportunity to get involved in the syrup-making process too!"
Families, mark your calendars! On Sunday, February 23rd after service, the RE Program is having a Maple Syrup Event! Aaron Jones has offered to teach the children how to identify a maple tree and tap one for sap using the big maple right outside the church door. To complement the theme of the day, there will be tasty waffles with some of the syrup Aaron collected last year as well.

Children got to enjoy movie snacks, bean bags, and the sanctuary "all to ourselves!" on Sunday with our showing of Hidden Figures. If you are looking for an entertaining movie that touches on subjects of race and gender roles, Hidden Figures is a must-see!
The children had a wonderful time on our Day of Service making holiday cards for the ladies at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility (ICMCF), crafting toys for the cats at the Karma Kat Cafe, then delivering the cards and cat toys! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces at ICMCF, and we had an especially fun time trying our toys out with the cats after we delivered them. It's good to know that we've got such a great group of hard workers in the RE Program!
From December 15 to January 12, the RE program is looking for extra volunteers on Sunday mornings to fill in for our wonderful childcare staff who will be gone over the CMU Winter Break. Volunteers are needed to help care for the little ones in the nursery or assist Kendra with supervising the older children during our RE lessons. All help is appreciated, so please consider signing up for a Sunday morning with Kendra at [email protected] or find her in the social hall after service. New RE volunteers are welcome!
We had a bustling and fun-filled evening at the RE Harvest Feast Celebration! With pizza, crafts, forts, scavenger hunts, hide-and-seek, and homemade stone soup and butter, what's not to like? Thank you to Drew Frantz, Lea Sobrilsky, and Andrea Devenney for all their help in the evening, to Norma Bailey for spending the night, and to Mel Bailey for leading a rejuvenating yoga session in the morning.
