Recently, when each of our local agencies was asked if their need was currently in emergency status, all indicated that they were making it but that donations are still welcomed because of the increased need of their guests. If you are a person who really does not have a need for your stimulus check but has received it anyway, follow your heart’s lead in determining where you would like to donate your money. Here is A Guide to Helping and Getting Help During the Coronavirus Crisis. It lists ways to give, how to get help, and how to help in other ways in your community. | Food: Soup Kitchen Food Pantry Homeless shelter: ICRH Health Products: Care Store Clothing: Clothing, INC Domestic Violence: R.I.S.E. |
At the last minute, we have been asked to provide meals for the homeless at the Free Methodist Church from Sunday, February 28, through Saturday, March 6. We need people to provide main dishes, side dishes, beverages, and desserts. If you are interested and willing to help – and for more information – please contact Joyce Henricks.
The ICRH homeless shelter is open and we are scheduled to provide food this coming week of November 22-28. We have participated as a “partner” church since the shelter opened. We provide a main dish, side dishes, salads, soups, desserts, and whatever else people want to provide for dinners. If you can prepare food but are not able to take it to the shelter, we can transport the food for you.
If you are willing and able to help, please contact Joyce Henricks ([email protected]; 989-400-9743) as soon as possible so that she can coordinate the meals! The Isabella County Restoration House continues to be in need of more volunteers throughout the shelter season. We are particularly in need of people for day shelter shifts (1-4 pm) and intake shifts (4-6:30 pm). To volunteer, submit an application on the website, and then sign-up to volunteer. Should you have questions, feel free to contact Norma Bailey ([email protected]) or Joyce Henricks ([email protected]).
The special plate collection this Sunday, December 15, is for EightCap in Isabella County, a Community Action Agency which works for solutions to address the local conditions and causes of poverty in Isabella County. In our community, they address issues of housing and homelessness and emergencies, including heating and rental assistance. Your donation will be directed to their Walk for Warmth which provides heating assistance.
