The UUFCM garage sale will be held on Thursday, Friday and (half day) Saturday, May 21-23. If you have items to contribute, please contact Norma Bailey (989-560-3952 or [email protected]) to find out how and where to drop them off. Please also contact her letting her know how and when you will be able to help either setting up the garage sale (sorting and pricing) and/or selling on the days of the sale. Many hands make light work!
On Saturday, February 21 at 7 p.m. we will enjoy a multigenerational Variety Show as the kick off to our annual Stewardship Drive. Friends and members of all ages will give of their time and talent performing in skits, songs, poetry readings, storytelling and dance. Everybody is invited to this fun event. Feel free to bring your friends. For questions or more information, contact Gisela.
Please considering donating to CMU Public Radio and doing it now, in the fall, as we pool our donations and “buy” some air time. Last year we gathered about $1500 and got two spots/week. Mary Alsager will be in church during September to gather the checks and to answer any questions. Thank you for considering supporting public radio and giving us an advertising voice.
Our UUFCM account for consignments at the Thrift Shop is still open. They take seasonal used clothing and small household items for sale to those in need, and some of those can be put on consignment which means that half of the sale price comes back to us, to be used as needed. The Shop is located at 307 S. Mission and is open from 10-4 daily. Just tell the clerk on duty that you have items for the U-3 account or for donation. Local children (ages 3-4) benefit by having a free preschool available for them. For further details, see Tom Moffit or call 772-1602.
You will be happy to know that our stewardship drive was a very successful venture. More than half of the congregants increased their contributions significantly so that we are very close to our goal. If you want to know more of the details, be sure to come to the Annual Meeting on May 18 after the service!
In the meantime, we want to thank all the contributing households for their generosity. Their investments in the future of our fellowship will help us get closer to the fulfillment of our hopes and dreams and are greatly appreciated. Special thanks go to the ambassadors (Norma Bailey, Jim Dealing, Laura Frey, Joyce Henricks and Capalene Howse) and the hosts of the Circle Suppers (Vicki Chessin, Scott Daigle and Cynthia Damer, the Dealings, K'ana Degen, Kris Los, Jen Prout and the Moffits). Thank you also to the participants of the Circle Suppers who provided tasty dishes and libations for the meals. We also want to express our gratitude to our treasurer, Ricky Courlander, who did an outstanding job keeping track of the pledges and donors. Last, but not least, a big thank you to the stewardship co-chairs, Vicki Chessin and Gisela Moffit, who organized and re-organized - and kept a cool head throughout the sometimes turbulent adventure. |
