If you have changed your phone, postal address or email account, please let us know! We'll be printing our August update to our Directory soon. Send your information to our Administrative Assistant, Kirsten Keeton, or tell Gisela Moffit. Thank you!
The Board has adopted safety procedures for tornado and fire situations. They are:
Tornado Warning Response
Fire Warning Response In the event of a fire or fire warning, the safest response for congregants is to exit the building.
The theme for our Stewardship Drive is:
Stewardship: Taking care of each other, taking care of our church, taking care of our world. Reflections on stewardship are being shared in worship services for our fellowship's stewardship season. Aaron Jones and Norma Bailey shared their hearts with us regarding why they come and support our lovely fellowship (see Norma's reflection here!). Join me to hear more messages sprinkled in through March and April with the voices of Susan Paton, Brigitte Bechtold, Katie Zapoluch, Carolyn Hancock, and Kevin Daum. A letter and the budget will be coming your way so you may plan your stewardship giving on Sunday, April 22, 2018. There will be forms and charts available online and on the counter near the name tags by the end of the month. Activities for our one-day Stewardship Sunday-Earth Day Festival are being confirmed and available soon! If you are interested in learning more about UUFCM, consider attending the next Welcome to UU orientation session this Sunday, March 25th at 12:00 pm with Laura McBride and friends. Additionally, if you are interested in becoming a member of our fellowship, please attend the Path to Membership workshop on Saturday, April 14th, 1-3 pm. Childcare is available for both sessions! Let Laura know by email, phone call, or at church if you would like to attend any classes at [email protected] or 989.772.5512. We’ve been asking you to save the date for months so now’s the time to share what we have planned. Saturday, January 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. will be our all-congregation retreat – our annual opportunity to gather and spend a portion of a day together focused on some issue of importance to this community. This year our time will be dedicated to varying aspects of the issue of community itself, centering on the question “Is UUFCM Your Basecamp?” This retreat experience is an opportunity to get to know one another better and to dive more deeply into what church means to each of us as individuals and as citizens of the world in this time and place.
We will start our retreat together at 8:30 a.m. with a delicious hot breakfast and the retreat activities facilitated by our minister will conclude at 1:00 p.m. In preparation, we ask that everyone read the UU World article titled “Religious Community Is Not Enough” by Thomas Schade. It can be read online and we will also have hard copies of the article available at the fellowship as well. In addition to this notice, all members and friends will be contacted by a UUFCM board member with a personal invitation to attend. Please don’t miss this opportunity! Those of you present in service this past month will have likely noticed the increase in worship attendance – a very good thing! Due to this welcome increase, we will be adding more chairs to the sanctuary…which will necessitate some adjustments in where we locate the choir presentations and how we do our joys and sorrows ritual, etc. We ask your patience as we make these adjustments…and that we all be mindful of making space for newcomers. One way to achieve this is for those who arrive earliest for service to select seats on the north (library side) of the room. And when we see the place filling up – skootch (yes, that’s a word) over to fill the single empty seats that exist between us to make room for others. Thank you!
