Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird
I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
~ George Eliot
We are not human because we think. We are human because we care. With or without speech, prayer is born of breath and bones, The question of what it means to be human has now become inextricable Perhaps we should realize that our need is not to ‘find something to believe’ – Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding. Everyone should be born into this world happy In Worship We have a special treat this Sunday, July 31! Our message for the morning, “Work as Spiritual Practice” will be presented by Martin Melville, a Quaker seminarian at Earlham School of Religion. His colleague – our minister – will be the service leader. Please join us for the opportunity to hear this unique voice from our pulpit. Martin is an “unprogrammed” Quaker (we’ll hear more about that on Sunday) who lives and works as a logger in State College, PA. He also kayaks, climbs trees professionally and is a serious whistler. Looking Ahead Sunday, August 7: “Honoring Hiroshima Peace Day” Host Family Needed The Council for Educational Student Travel is seeking a host family for a 16-year- old girl from Thailand planning to attend Mt. Please contact Lisa DanDan at 989.854.6035 for more information. Books Available Tracy Riley has brought in some books that belonged to Danielle - they will be available for your perusal in the social hall after service. Scrap Metal Collection There will be a scrap metal collection with proceeds going towards sending two people to leadership camp next summer. Look through your garage, basement, yard, and attic for items to donate to this drop off - old appliances, satellite dishes, wire, fencing, etc. A trailer will be available for hauling donations to the salvage yard. Dates aren't firm yet, but probably Saturday and Sunday collections. The final date for scrap metal delivery to the salvage company will be Saturday, August 20th.
